Featured Poet: Nathan Tompkins
Nathan Tompkins was forced upon this unsuspecting world in a small town hospital in North Idaho. There he spent his early years, until they kicked him out for his unruly behaviour. So he went on to terrorise the west coast. In order to keep his mischievous imagination occupied, his mother taught him to read, and gave to him a love of the written word, including poetry. By age nine, she had introduced him to Noyes, Poe, Frost, Coleridge, Dickinson, and many others. In his freshman year of high school, he began writing poetry…from then on he was screwed. Since then, he has gone on to empty venues throughout Oregon and Washington. His writings have been featured in many publications including NonBinary Review, Yellow Chair Review, Menacing Hedge, Full of Crow, and Crab Fat Magazine. He is the author of four chapbooks, the most recent of which are A Song of Chaos and Lullabies to a Whiskey Bottle.
Musical Guest: David Johnson
“Music has been a constant part of David’s life since childhood. After completing six years of piano lessons, he picked up guitar at age 19 and began to write. Deeply personal lyrics and a folk-driven alternative pop sound make listening to his music a unique experience.”
